Malta is a beautiful island, I wasn’t sure what to expect at first though when I first saw it I fell in love. It’s so lovely, Italy meets England I’d say. It’s quirky, up beat and not afraid of doing things in its own way… We started our trip off in Mellieha, boy was there a lot of walking. Don’t worry though, we often stopped as cafe’s to enjoy tea and ice cream…
Mellieha Bay is gorgeous, the turquoise waters were framing the rocks, the air was sweet and warm…
I bought a polaroid camera, just because… I love the raw instantaneous nature of it…
We started our hour long walk to Popeye’s Village, it was hot but we didn’t mind, it was a nice stroll to be honest!
How quaint is Popeye’s village, it is the original film set of the 1980 Musical Production ‘Popeye’ Our ferry to Gozo begins… We had a wonderful tour guide, Mario! he seemed to know everything about everything!
We visited some working salt pans, I thought this was so simple and loved the fact that this method is still heavily used…
We then popped into yet another boat though this was a much smaller, rowing boat. We made our way through the cracks in the mountain through to?The Azure Window (Maltese: Tieqa ?erqa) which is a natural limestone?arch.
We began making our way back to the ferry terminal with just one stop off along the way at a gift shop, though we chose to people watch outside instead… A new day… we headed via bus to Bugibba. We visited the national aquarium and walked along the coast line. We then hopped on yet another bus, a 2 hour journey this time to the city of Valletta. We spent most of the day in Velletta, it had a great atmosphere!
Finally our trip came to an end… whilst waiting in the airport Kris decided to while away the time playing the piano… which was nice to listen to…
